CCPhoto Comp April 2023 - MONTHLY COMP -This month's comp is closed please refer to current month's theme

We’re guessing you all live in one, of sorts.

Community, family, visitors, and just passing through.

What goes on in your street?

The title gives a hint of the style we hope to see. Street Photography is such a powerful genre and style. You can capture great stories and visual delights, but this theme means the style of shooting is flexible. You can take documentary photos, be artistic, shoot for the architectural marvels on your street, or perhaps you might ask your neighbours to pose for a portrait.

Stories are often best found when they are close to home. Maybe this is a chance to meet new neighbours too.

We are happy to expand the meaning of which street too - it could be a street you used to live on, so check your archives for images.

The sample photos below show a street I lived on in New York for a short while an what I saw out the window, then I for a period of time I was in a town in Italy so saw fabulous café scenes every morning. Currently I walk to Maroubra beach in the early morning.

Some photographers we recommend you look up for inspiration are French photographer and a pioneer of street photography Robert Doisneau, Martin Parr from England, and Australian photographer Trent Parke.
