MONTHLY PHOTO COMPETITION
CCP would like to send a big ‘Thank You’ to everyone who entered their photos in our inaugural monthly CCPhoto Competition. We had a great response, the judging session was lively, but we did find a winner.

Congratulations to
Rhydian Thomas for his image titled ‘Tama Waiting’.
Though the Eastern Suburbs in Sydney is more than just the beaches a lot of the submissions showed this aspect because, let’s face it, the Eastern Suburbs is well known for its amazing beaches and waterways. After all the scores from the 4 judges were tallied Rhydian’s image came up a worthy winner. Rhydian captured a moment that was not only extremely well composed and exposed but was also taken in a moment when all elements were aligned. You can imagine that Rhydian was there waiting for the right time take the photo just as the surfer is waiting for the right time to enter the water. The image also shows us that our backyard, nature, is vulnerable and even though we love beaches and water, it cannot be taken for granted.
Check out more of Rhydian’s work on his website: https://www.rhydiantphoto.com/
Rhydian wins an archival framed print - which will first hang in our window for a month so you can come and see the real thing and how good it looks on paper - as well as $460 [$250 plus 50% of the entry proceeds]. Rhydian has asked us to donate 30% of the remaining entry fees to Waves for Water charity, which amounted to $126. Read all about how they help people receive fresh clean water no matter where they are. https://www.wavesforwater.org
Rhydian also receives a signed copy of ‘it’s only rock’n’roll but I like it…’ by Wendy McDougall. A retrospective of her music photography from the past 40 years.
Wendy was our professional judge along with three CCP team members Iain, Eli and James.
The process to find the winner was based on each of the judges scores that included points on composition, idea, and if the photographer had followed all the criteria details. The points were tallied to find the Top 20 and then the winner.
The NEXT monthly CCPhoto Competition is now open to accept your submission.
Check out our website for entry details: https://www.charingcrossphoto.com.au/
PLUS, we have a new Instagram page dedicated to the photo competition.

‘It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary. It takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary’
